Housing in Philadelphia (and some tips about transport)

The 2009 conference will be held at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, which is on the main campus of the University of Pennsylvania. (Approximate address: 36th and Spruce Street.) Most of the conference will be in the "Clinical Research Building." For a detailed map click here.

Housing options near Penn:

The Sheraton and the Inn at Penn are two hotels located on/near campus.
Inn at Penn: theinnatpenn.com
Sheraton University City Hotel: www.philadelphiasheraton.com
We have no special deals with these hotels, and Philadelphia has many other options for housing, of course.
For students only the International House may offer overnight accommodations. For more details see:www.ihousephilly.org/living-housing-options-rates.htm

We are walking distance from 36th and Spruce trolley station (5 min), the 34th and Market subway station (10 min), as well as from stops of the 42, 21 and 40 buses. For more info on local transport options see www.septa.com.

Should you have financial difficulties and be unable to obtain funding from your home institution, please let us know and we can look into housing you with graduate or medical students. The conference does not have funds to assist with travel or housing.

Some tips about transport:
There is a regional train (R1) that connects the Philadelphia airport to campus (University City station).
Philadelphia's main Amtrak train station (30th street station) is about 20 minutes walk from campus. You can also travel to Philadelphia via New Jersey Transit, and by bus (including boltbus.com, megabus.com, and chinatown buses).
